Robert and Robin Lawton are a husband and wife team of mystery writers who publish under the pen name, Rob Lawton. Bob had two great loves as a child—chemistry and writing. Chemistry came first and along the way to getting his Ph.D, he and Robin became college sweethearts. After six years of starts and stops, Bob eventually realized she was the third great love of his life (in no particular order) and they married. Robin pursued a career in Information Technology while Bob worked as a chemist and then research and development manager for a major, chemical company. The couple retired early and decided to pursue a joint career writing mysteries full time, on the coast of Maine.
Their first foray into the world of writing fiction was a contest for who could pen the best murder mystery play for a local venue on Mount Desert Island. This led to a fun and rewarding partnership with the Seal Cove Auto Museum and their fourth play was performed in July, 2019. Success as playwrights emboldened them to write “Murder with an Ocean View”, a full length murder mystery novel, coming soon. As full time residents of Mount Desert Island (MDI for short) they have spent time exploring Bar Harbor, Maine, and Acadia National Park. It is only natural that their mysteries frequently include this locale! It really is a wonderful place to live and visit, and the actual crime rate is much lower than you would have guessed, based on their novels, short stories and plays.
